I remember a simpler time, A time where no hostel student ever went hungry, a time when late night hunger was a problem solvable in just 2 minutes, a time where health food meant Maggi Atta Noodles. That time, my dear fellows, is a time no more. It is nothing but fond memories that you can look back at. And if you thought you could shift to other brands of 2-minute noodles, think again, as the FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) has intensified crackdown on firms selling food products without its approval, following up the magi controversy.
As the food safety regulator cracked the whip on companies selling products without its approval, Hindustan Unilever withdrew Knorr Chinese noodles from the market. Similarly, Indo Nissin withdrew its Top Ramen noodles, following suits. Food Registration is a major issue as many multinational groceries have come up with their own variants which too, are steadily being tracked by FSSAI. Noting that the industry should follow self-regulation, an FSSAI official said, "Some companies are recalling unauthorized products on their own. If they don't, we will take strict action. The state food safety officers have powers to confiscate and destroy such products."
Well, looks like Food Licensing & Registration In India is on a spree to crush all those Tom Uncle laden dreams of freshers all across Delhi.
